In just two days, hundreds of synagogues were burned, thousands of Jewish businesses were trashed, hundreds of Jews killed and Jewish schools, cemetaries and hospitals were ravaged while police officials stood idoly by. The morning after, 300,000 Jewish men were arrested for the crime of being Jewish and sent to concentration camps. Some Jewish women were even arrested and kept in local jails. Curfews were placed on the Jewish people, only allowing them outside of their homes at certian times of day and were excluded from all areas of public life. After the "Night of broken glass," life for the Jews was even more terrible than it already was. Many chose to flee the country and many committed suicide out of despair.
